Blanketing opinions that I'll probably regret soon.

Whew. That Patriot Act sure is oppressive!

God damn, the fascists never cease, do they? In my first encounter with the sharp teeth of the brutal and oppressive Patriot Act, when I just called my homeowners insurance for updates, before I could proceed on the phone they asked me:
"In regards to the USA Patriot Act, are you a US citizen?"
What's next, concentration camps?
Comments:
What was the relevance of that question to your homeowner's insurance?

Litoralis:

No clue.

The only thing I can think of is that your citizenship status affects the amount and type of information they can collect, what they are allowed to do with it once they have it, and who they can be compelled to give it to.

Kind of worrying since I am not a US citizen.

Hello Lonnie Brunner,
I know you don't believe in this stuff but last night I had a dream about oysters and cicadas. I googled oyster cicada this morning and your blog came up. Just thought you should know.

Anon:

Wait, you had a dream about me? What do you mean by "this stuff?"

LB

Anon is correct you come up #3 on google!

I personally like the Patriot act, It protects me from wolves and I can pray with a solemn piece of mind!

It's great news that our federal government is hot on the trail of the Islamic terrorists who are trying to destroy our country by buying homeowner's insurance. I, for one, would never have thought of using homeowner's insurance as a weapon of mass destruction, but there's no limits to the imagination of these evil fiends.

Reminds of the time my license was revoked due to the new National Driver's License Registry....long story.

I wonder if all the new policy created after 9/11 has been more of a hassle for law abiding citizens rather than a terrorist deterrent (sp?).....
